Ice Cream and Basketball Engagement Plymouth, MI: Kate + Emmett
For all the engagement sessions I photograph, I want to incorporate a real sense of personality into the photography shoot, capturing real life and what a couple is really like when together and this Lifestyle Engagement was no different. Kate and Emmett have a whirl wind life, living in Nicaragua for the last 3 years, Kate teaches Biology and Emmett teaches English, and some of their favorite things to do together as a couple is to go out to eat, travel, watch movies, and play basketball together.
The day of their session was beautiful with big fluffy clouds dotting the sky in downtown Plymouth, Michigan. We began by checking out the historic Penn Theater and discovered some amazing hand painted murals down the back alleyway that depicted scenes from Gone With the Wind, The Shek, The Wizard of Oz, and A 2001 Space Odyssey. Already my creative energy was high because I also love the movies and as we explored Kate's family home of Plymouth, Michigan we found some wonderful portrait opportunities - and I got to hear more about how Emmett proposed.
Emmett and Kate had gone away on a quiet weekend getaway to a hotel on the coast of Nicaragua, Emmett had prepared his thoughts and that gorgeous ring for a beautiful proposal on their balcony at sunset. Gush.
The air was starting to get hot as we wandered around, and Kate and Emmett decided to duck into a little, retro ice cream parlor called The Dairy King. After sharing each others ice cream cones with one-another, Kate and Emmett wanted to hit the basketball court.
We traveled to a local middle school's outdoor basketball court where, after a quick match of rock, paper, scissors, Kate and Emmett shot some hoops beneath a dramatic sky.
(I met Kate and Emmett while freelancing my photography skills for Fairytale Productions. All photos were captured by Courtney Carolyn, but are Copyright to the amazing Fairytale Productions. To read more about why I collaborate and work with other photographers, check out this post.)
I want to wish Kate and Emmett so much love and happiness as they begin the next chapter in their love story and want to say congratulations on being MARRIED!

Kate, you are so beautiful.
A quiet, sweet moment.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for diamonds.
Don't mind me, just gonna have a lick or two. . . or three.
Don't worry he shares his with her though. Too cute.
Cheers!
