Elegant, Laid-Back Wedding at The Colony Club, Detroit, MI: Molly + Chris
I received one of the best compliments after 10 hours of capturing Molly & Chris' amazing wedding day. Their wedding was held at the iconic Colony Club and at the majestic Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit, MI. At the end of the night, while dancing was well underway, I walked up to Molly and gave her a big hug goodbye and said one last congratulations to her on her marriage to Chris! Molly smiled and because the music was so loud she leaned in closer to me as she said, "We had so much fun with you today! It felt like you were just our good friends here celebrating all day while taking the photos." After hearing those words, the soreness and longness of the day just melted away from my body. Molly's words made all of my hard work throughout the day of looking for the best locations, the best light, anticipating moments, and staying on schedule so worth it!
I always strive to capture my couples in an authentic, genuine way and it melts my heart when I work with clients who become more like friends and who enjoy spending the day with me just as much as love spending their wedding day with them! I believe in creating the best photographic experience possible for my couples and one of the ways that I ensure this is by forming a friendship with my couples. I believe a bride and groom should connect with their photographer, trust their photographer, and be excited about the whole process!
Molly and Chris were so wonderful to work with and I had the opportunity to get to know them in advance to the wedding at their Chicago engagement session! After they took on the humid, hot June weather while exploring Chicago at their engagement, Molly and Chris knew what to expect from me on their wedding day and that resulted in a laid-back, fun environment for wedding photography to take place!
Everything about my process and approach to wedding photography ends up merging together on the wedding day. No other person beside those in the wedding party, parents, and family got to spend the entirety of the wedding day with Molly and Chris and I'm so glad the day ended up just how they imagined with just as many tears as there was laughter!
Molly and Chris shared a first look at the iconic DIA, had a traditional catholic ceremony at one of the most gorgeous cathedrals in Detroit, and danced the night away at the always fabulous Colony Club! Before I write an entire novel on how much I love Molly and Chris - and all my couples - I hope you enjoy some of my favorite images from their elegant and laid-back wedding day!
Love,
Courtney
